But there is no shortage of gas generation available to cover absences of wind power. Gas can run at 2+GW or at 500MW and import, whatever suits the occasion.

for sure. gas can also run at $80 but the last week its been $160 or above. price gouging?

I think the world is turning soft when there's so much uproar about a power outage like this. Local infrastruture issues that happen quite a bit when the temp rises. I think it was on the back of all those people that were grumpy yesterday because they didn't sleep well in the heat.

We didn't even use the AC in our bedroom that night and we survived.
