People competent in old style grid management learnt how to handle wind power, now they're competent in handling wind power. Learning is what most intelligent people do to become competent in new systems. Heard of this technique, have you?Quote:

That's right, but the batteries can be anywhere within a grid area and add to stability. Households, small businesses and industrial premises can have batteries installed that can trade power to keep the grid stable too. And if the grid goes down it's still of use to the premises where it's installed, assuming its configured that way. The more redundancy is built into the grid the more reliable it becomes for every user.Quote:

I've largely stayed out of this thread because I know very little about power generation,....quite happy to admit that.
However, I could never see the sense, or the reasoning, in the closing of Hazelwood without a reliable similar cost alternative when so much capacity, particularly in Victoria would be lost.
Anyway, facts are facts, I know how much my Electricity bills have increased, & I'm not alone.
A local business, where we regularly spend a few dollars, has been in the Media. The owner of Doyles Deck has stated that his monthly account, since Hazelwood's closure, , has increased from $8k to $24k per month.
