I bet they're not many others ready like that. They're the ones that whinge like crazy when something goes wrong and have done absolutely nothing to prepare when given ample time.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

You lucky bastard living in a 1St world country
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I read the article, which sums up a few of our current power issues pretty well.
I've got no problems with "renewables", but I'm not fanatical about them as some are. I'm in favour of them, but they should be phased in gradually, ensuring that there are absolutely no cost, or reliability of supply, issues.
I believe that the most important thing is, as this article points out, to maintain a satisfactory reliable, reasonably priced supply for manufacturing, firms like Alcoa, but also of course, for us consumers.
And that is why I believe that (IMHO) Hazlewood was closed prematurely.

Lots of thunder and lightning went through here a little while ago.

I see SA has gone dark again. Oh, well, I guess you're all in bed.

I'm not. I'm watching DVDs whilst waiting for the washing machine to finish it's cycle.

Didn't go out here... Big storm and no power in SA

Sodden soil and high winds, multiple infrastructure strikes from lightning and hazardous conditions means crews had to stand down.

Trees wiping out lines caused other head aches..

Looks like the infrastructure may need to be upgraded to higher category ratings with the increased events..

Otherwise the people need to quit bitching - line workers worked unsafely decades ago (fix at any cost) but now won't work during lightning events etc which render it unsafe (can't blame them)...

So the connection coming back on can take longer.
