Heywood connector is insufficient to meet SA demands anyway..
So yes if the wind stops and the Gas Plants don't kick on in time the. The Heywood connector will cut out as well
With Hazelwood closed and Portland open, will there be much available for the Heywood connector, or is S.A now up a biodegradable creek in a leaky green canoe.
Hazelwood was a dirty plant & good riddance, the failure is in not building a clean high efficiency coal plant of a 1,000 mw or so.
Unfortunately renewable subsidies ( and all subsidies for that matter) , and political correct speech and distorted the market to an extent, who would take the investment risk.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Only glanced at the front page of the Age this morning, so it seems that the demolition of Hazlewood and rehab of the mine site is going to cost $750 M.
I can't stand that paper anymore, so didn't read beyond the comment about the 'true cost of carbon' or some such.
Question is who's going to pay for this, why shut the mine and not build a more modern, efficient coal fired generator using the coal there until renewables can really take up the slack?
I won't make any black hole jokes.

To be fair...we are consistent here in SA...we always do it by half-measure.
