Who is stupid? The state has been hit by a succession of roughly 1 in 50 year storms, and last time loads and loads of trees had been blown across power lines. People like me who were well prepared paid around twenty bucks for some genny fuel and didn't suffer at all. People who did nothing in advance suffered much more. Expecting a long and geographically sparse grid to stand up to the storms we've had is pretty unrealistic. To put every power line underground would be nice but hardly affordable in the current economic climate. So asking people to plan ahead a little isn't unrealistic.
