hazlewood was closing this year ether to be rebuilt and brought up to standerd or shut down, hazelwood was meant to be shut down after loylang b i think it was (the newist one that was finished mid 90's their), hell hazlewood was orginaly built to run on brickete's before being converted to plasma fired with coal dust sprayed in.
the reason it was closed as it would be more cost effective to build a new power station then rebuild hazlewood that's why their was no saving it
Now don't get me wrong , im all for moving away from using fossil fuels to make electricity, apart from being dirty, there are better uses for such a finite resources.
However, i cant come to grips with the oft repeated claim that today or in the near future they will win on price. Can anyone put forward a reputable source document on this.
https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/aeo/pdf...generation.pdf page 7, shows geothermal still significantly cheaper than solar/wind. And that excludes storage costs to make it reliable/available as needed.
Look at Total Cost LCOE before any tax credits.
I have skin in this game as i am actively looking at battery storage redT energy storage - Maximise Your Energy to minimize our genset usage, and move to Solar if the numbers stack up. So far they stack up to reduce genset hours, but not to install Solar as a replacement.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
