you don't bounce as well as when your younger

Kris and I went to pick up his new car from the car yard this morning, the sales offices are up a small set of steps that go onto a timber veranda.
As I was walking from on office towards the other along the narrow walkway, I stepped into the cut out section of the walkway where the steps go. I came crashing down with some force. I was lucking I only skun an bit of skin and didn't hit my head of break some bones. But the massive jolt of me hitting the deck left me with a good head ache and a very sore neck. I previously had surgery and they removed my disc and fused the cervical spine and am not allowed to go on roller coaster any do any impact activities.
If I was a lot younger then I would have just bounced off the deck. Gee I hate being old

You and me both! I played rugby until I was 47. I'd wake up Monday a bit sore and with a fair amount of my skin on the bottom of the oppositions boots and their skin on mine. I used to have no problems with dealing with this. Now, 5 years later the first scratch it's a big Oweeeeeee! No more tough, hard front rower. My 3yo is tougher than me!
    I Hate being old!

    Cheers

I've always thought of myself as reasonably thick skinned, age is proving it otherwise to me. Skin gets scraped off easily now.

    Growing old is character-building.

Previously a niggle or two from minor injuries would be manageable. But as you get older there is no point when at least three or four permanent niggles aren't giving you pain.

Every setback takes longer to recover from.

So learning to live with that and not whinge to everybody nearby, teaches you restraint and control.

Growing old is not for the faint hearted.

Hope your healing up well, as we age it takes time.
Make sure every day for the next few months you remind Kris of the sacrifice you made for him.
Think of all the chores he can do for you if you play the cards right.
    Cheers, Kyle

agreed. I used to fall over quite regularly when I was a youngster. Often it was when leaving a pub. I used to bounce as well. Now when I fall over (not so often when leaving the pub) I seem to go down like a sack of it.
    cheers,

Rather than bounce, I just tend to flop.

    Know those feelings well..
Rugby whilst in the Navy was great fun, a hard knock was hardly a thing to worry about.

Now in the last year I've taken up Field Hockey.
Loving the game but geez it takes some recovery time afterwards....
