Yes it does pay to shop around .And as you found out it is not always cheaper from over sea`s
Good on you for supporting local even if your $50.00 worst off![]()
Some would go off shore to save that amount and still think they got quality and a bargain.
I reasently shopped around both here and in the UK. for parts to rebuild my Discovery TD300 , the usually stuff 4 pistons, all bearings, gasket sets, gudgon pin bushes etc all the UK prices were around $1100 Aust. inc postage. I then priced all the same items through 2 landrover dealers in south east Qld. And much to my believe M R Automotives Pty LTD came in with a quote $50 dearer than the smallest UK one. Their price for all parts for a block rebuild totalled $1159.35 this was of some concern as to the quality of the pistons and bearings etc. They assured me that they use all the same stuff in their workshop for engine rebuilds and I would have the same warranty on all goods. They were very helpful on the phone when I originally spoke with and nothing was a problem. After some checking with other known uses of M R Autos I had no hesitation in buying from them.
This is not a sales pitch for them but when service and what is needed at a fair price at home so to speak I will promote it and the other advantage is should their be a warranty claim later is better and cheaper to settle it at home and not overseas.

Also you have to add import tax to the UK price as it is over the $1000 threshold .Aust Gov wants there pound of flesh.
They are also talking about getting O/S sellers to collect the GST for them as well.
Yes, did you add the 10% GST when it lands here as it would be over $1000?
Diesel engine parts are duty free but still gst.
MY08 TDV6 SE D3- permagrin ooh yeah
2004 Jayco Freedom tin tent
1998 Triumph Daytona T595
1974 VW Kombi bus
1958 Holden FC special sedan
and the GST on import goods over $1,000 is still 10% - regardless if duty is not payable at customs.
But the cost to return a faulty part or warranty can be expensive in post back to UK
