instead of the stupid left wing politically correct crap they teach now,

    what is that?

the education system is fantastic now. children learn so much these days.....ten times whAt we learnt. I regularly sit and talk with school children and I'm impressed...maybe you are out of touch with our growing generations.

school education could be doing so much better.
few of the lessons taught at school are useful in life.
i feel its still stuck in the 60's where going to uni is the most important thing.

So it's the teachers fault that our youths are criminals WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP disaplin starts at home teachers are there to teach not to hand out moral right and wrongs to a class that's mum and Dad's job. If our teachers handed out this so called thought discipline our courts would be full of teachers the problem is the police catch the crooks and the judicial system lets them go so at the end of the day the police feel they have wasted there time the crook is free and society looses.

You might find it interesting to research how many students are expelled from school for bad behavior. Schools try, but they can't change what happens outside school.
You might also want to ask why schools have had to expand into vocational education. It's because funding cuts have undermined TAFE. Who loses from that? - the kids who aren't going to go to university and need vocational training. Why has vocational funding been starved?

Maybe it has something to do with the number of new apprentices ( or lack of them) being taken on by business now that is causing to lack of funding at TAFE.
Many businesses now prefer to use the 247 visa option instead of training their own tradesmen and skilled workers.
I agree that teachers have very little power to enforce discipline at school since corporal punishment was abolished years ago But even the parents ability to punish/chastise their children has been slowly eroded away as well by the left wing brigade over the years and this HAS to have a negative effect on juvenile behaviour.
The old saying of "Spare the rod Spoil the child" make a whole lot of sense, It also makes complete sense when applied to Adults as well

Unfortunately many people that turn to crime had no guidance and poor role models. That's a fact. So what's the answer ? From a young age just bang them up and throw away the key? Make the conditions so bad that they never want to return.? Bring back the death penalty (I'm surprised that hasn't come up in the last few pages of this thread)? All of these things are the American model and it just doesn't work.

Laney what is reported in the papers is often only a small part of the story in terms of sentencing. And yes many police get frustrated at times. But they have the luxury of NOT sitting in judgment knowing all of the facts and the research of what works and what doesn't for often young offenders. Police often know only part of the offender' s story. So you can't criticise them for having at times issues with a sentencing Judge but their views on the point are not gospel.

    Cheers

Maybe IF the parents were to be made accountable AND suffer the consequences of their children's actions then Maybe they would pay more attention to their kids upbringing instead of worrying about their own indulgences and expecting the rest of society to look after their children's upbringing/welfare.
Yes I do believe that society has an obligation to look after the sick and the disadvantaged But I do Not believe that it has an obligation to educate other peoples children on how to behave in society, That responsibility lies squarely with the parents.

No, not a load of crap at all. You’ve basically missed the point altogether,,
or perhaps I didn’t explain we’ll enough,, my bad if the later.
Your right about parents losing control,, and this stems from the do-gooders who have been told something at school and then reported it to authorities, and visa versa,, student being told by teachers that parents can’t do this or that,, and kids being kids roll with it.
We’re not talking bashing’s here,, this is normal pecking order discipline that’s been stopped.
Part of a teachers job is to help instil manners with they’re peers etc,, stop bullying etc,, help explain right from wrong and why,, what consequences can ensue etc.
Tell me where this is being done these days. Having not long had a child leave school,, I’ll stand by what I’ve said.

My kids are still in school. From what I've seen, they and their peers will turn out better adjusted than I and mine did.
I think too many on here are reacting to the absolute crap that's beaten up, fluffed up and dished up in spades to keep us all anxious, Because when we're anxious we buy more of the crap they're flogging in their ads.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.
