Can't speak about other systems, but I can say that respect for others is strongly pushed here, along with a clear path to redeem yourself is you screw up. Those who refuse eventually get expelled. The organization has a duty of care to protect other students from the troublemakers.
Also should add that, while most parents have it together fairly well, some parents are well intentioned, but unsure how to parent and a small number have no idea. A small number of kids are just deliberate delinquents. It's harder for single parent families, who are nearly half the total, but you can't blame the single parent families or any other group - it's not that simple.
But let's accentuate the positive: most are doing fine.

Not so sure about that. Pretty sure it was my dad's belt and curtailment of privileges/liberty that set me on the straight and narrow... Not to mention the totally unexpected backhanders from my mum that were labelled "just in case" in response to protestations akin to "what was that for?".

(She, likely rightly, was pretty sure that if an hour or two passed and I hadn't been discovered in some kind of mischief - then she had missed something.)

Ozscott I very rarely believe what I read or hear in the media I can only go by what I have seen from experience the accused solicitor gives the court how hard their clients life has been that the courts need to cut him a break and the bleeding heart judge on more occasions then not go soft and the little darling leaves to offend again and again.

Pretty much lost for words with this. Absolutely disgusting the fact that people are prepared to defend this guy to the max.

I haven't read anything about this. When you say defend to the max do you mean lawyers doing their job or are there others? Cheers

    Here you go.
Bourke Street driver: Jury urged to stay objective in decision over accused - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

This ***** couldn't have been that ****ed up because he was able to stab someone then drive a car all over Melbourne before doing a doughnut prior to running over dozens of pedestrians.
In many parts of the world this cretin would have been shot on site and rightly so.
This is a perfect example of the ****ed up judicial system that we currently have

Arrgh...its still being heard and has not been decided according to the article.

Our system of justice is the best anywhere. We might not all like the outcome but that's not the measure.

The press only report a tiny portion of the actual evidence and legal argument and not always accurately anyway. But people still get very judgmental even with little knowledge of the facts. Me pointing this out won't change that, I know

    Cheers
