If your mate truly had a conscience he would be working for the prosecution's side Not taking tax payers money for defending criminals and getting them off on technicalities or excuses.

Maybe if you looked harder and took your rose coloured glasses off you would see that the World can be quite an Ugly place at times.
Sticking your head into the sand and believing that eveyone is an Angel isn't helping, Everyone needs a good dose of reality every now and then so that they can see exactly what is happening instead of the apathy that is now rampant.

Trout given that I deal with all manner of people daily from major insurance companies, to victims of crimes, to perpetrators and everyone in between I doubt I could be said to have my head in the sand...

Mick no question that the majority of lawyers do well but why not. They spend many years at Uni and then very long hours, lots of stress, ongoing learning, and often have to deal with attitudes like those being expressed by Mr Trout...

The truth is if you average a lawyers actual hours out as opposed to the hours he or she bills clients for their hourly rate is far below what is reported and spoken about. Then there are the outlays and business expenses etc. So...a dose of reality by someone who knows.

No mate, and he could be seconded to the PP at some point, they do transfers which is something he wants to do, just to see it from the other side.
He believes in people getting a fair hearing and a proper defence.
What we don't need is a police state, something we are slipping perilously close to.

He has far too many stories of stitch ups and people being screwed over, as does a very good Psych friend who's worked in the legal and jail systems.

FWIW one of my oldest and best friends is an AFP veteran so I hear both sides.
