But, your punctuation is atrocious.

It would have been good manners to have told you and offer to round it down, before you had to point it out. Under the circumstances I don't think you were petty.

My granny used to say, look after the pennies & the pounds will take care of themselves.. Well she was Scottish..

And what would have been said if you left without paying the full amount. Doubt it would be called " petty".

Exactly I was gob smacked at the cheek of no explanation before i said something.
It did make me think how many times one pays with cash and you just grab your change with out counting and walk away

I don't think it was petty.

But on the one hand I agree that if the vendor can't provide the right amount of change i should be rounded to the customers benefit (within reason) but on the other hand, if this was at a 7Eleven or something where the staff are often underpaid kids, you can bet that any shortage in the till at the end of the night comes out of his wages and that the 5c difference is noticeable to him especially if this happens several times a night.
