Talking My environmental good deed for the day

Yesterday had to drop number 1 Daughter to her bus in town, peak hour traffic waiting in trffic light que etc.... SWMBO exclaims and points; the girl in the car in the lane next to us and up a few vehicles tosses a lit 2/3rds smoked ciggie out her window...

    I see red.

Get out saunter up to her car, pick up the stinking item and with words to the effect ' don't worry, I'll get that!' proceeded to stub it out on her front tyre and then deposit the butt on her windscreen.

She said NOTHING. Couldn't care less!!!

The pigs we have to live around astound me.

I understand where you are coming from Justin and back in the day it probably wouldn't have any consequences for you but not today. Actions such as this leaves you vulnerable to having an interim AVO [Apprehended Violence Order] taken out against you and following that you would also have to appear before a magistrate.

With todays laws I suggest it is probably best to not get involved.

Exactly there is a number to call for littering all you need is the rego # date and time and it`s out of your hands

With regard to that littering number. How can they levy a fine, or take any other action, purely on someone calling and saying rego xyz dropped litter? Is evidence not required?

As far as I know Simon in WA the person will get a written warning from a "dob in",its all they can do.They wont take it to court on a he said she said matter.
However, with dashcam footage I'm sure they will hand out a fine, especially if the footage contains day time and GPS info, which most cams provide.

Ring up and dob your self in then you will find out first hand
What i quoted happened about 6 years ago .
Funny the person involved was a security guard at work (Honest Person) He rang up the EPA said he hasnt smoked for years .They dropped the fine over the phone so i guess it`s all too hard to chase up

I tried to report a ciggie thrower once. I was told that if the person denies it I would have to be prepared to testify in court.

I told them to forget it. I live in a small town and if the perp lived in the area, the likely hood of bumping into him/her is very high.

Well done JC for what you did though.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
