Moorabbin Highway Patrol members clocked the driver at 147km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The learner driver in my house drove me to Craig's hut and back today...

Coming home between Mansfield and Yea.... we came across one of those great types that sits on 80km with 15 cars behind them in a 100 zone... then does 110 when there's an overtaking lane...

We got no where near the speed you posted above.... but the lad learned just what the SDV6 can do if you give it a little poke

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

Hey mate I feel your pain, I have been stuck behind caravans for ages and then you see one of those overtaking lanes 2 kms ahead signs, you think beauty, now's my chance to safely over take, only to find the said over taking lane in on a hill and real short in length , and the bozo towing the caravan seems to hit the nitrous oxide switch and speeds up on the hill to stop you overtaking

You seem to forget that "Overtaking Lanes" are Actually "Speed Up lanes" for ignorant arsehole drivers that believe you should have to stay behind them, didn't you know they own the road, Regards Frank.

I found out that it applies to Land Cruiser drivers more so , but pootrol drivers do it also, they hate to behind a mere mortal Land Rover. Even if you are doing the speed limit, they always like to over take and then sit in front of you. It's sort of a pack leader mentality

I just got back from the workshop, on the way as I was approaching a roundabout in a 50 zone I noticed a clown in a Nissan something ugly on my right about 50 metres or so before the roundabout travelling at around 75klms/hr..
When he seen that I was going to be in the roundabout (turning left) before him he sped up to over 80, so I braked and just missed embedding my 17,000lb winch into his side.
(lucky I got my Disco 1 brakes working properly). He pulled into the Chinese takeaway about 100 metres up from the roundabout.
So I pulled up behind this ****wit and started to read him the riot act, his statement was that I was in the wrong I HAD TO GIVE WAY TO MY RIGHT.
TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THIS BRAIN DEAD 30+Y.O. MORON, that the speed limit is 50 klm/hr. and he was doing up to 30 klm/hr. over and the fact that he must (by law) slow down when approaching and driving in a roundabout.
No this poor excuse for a man insisted I had to give way to my right, if he had been travelling at the legal speed and not sped up when he seen I was going to be in the roundabout before him, I would have completed my left turn and been out of the roundabout before he even reached the roundabout, maybe he thought I was going to the Chinese takeaway and he wanted in first.
Reading a Blog on this very matter on a NRMA site and 100% of the posters agreed that you must give way to traffic in the roundabout and NOT give way to drivers approaching (but not in) on your right. yet when you get out on the road close enough to 100% of drivers believe they have right of way over anyone on their left regardless of not being anywhere near entering the roundabout.
I nearly ran up the arse of a cop car that despite an empty roundabout in front of him, decided to give way to a vehicle still 30+ metres away on his right before the entrance to the roundabout. I blasted my horn at him and called him a Dick, he almost took off and just missed the car coming through the roundabout.
So if the bloody cops don't know the rules of the road what chance have we got to educate the empty heads out there, Regards Frank.

    Giving way

Approaching a roundabout: Vehicles entering a roundabout must give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout.
Giving way at a roundabout: means the driver must slow down and if necessary, stop to avoid a collision.
When entering, you must give way to all vehicles, including bicycles, already on the roundabout. So slow down or stop if necessary. Only enter when there is a safe gap.

So 1st in best dressed, as you were already in there, but if both vehicles arrived at the round a bout at the same time then you would give way to the right.

    Going left

    1. Slow down and prepare to give way as you approach the roundabout.
    2. On approach you must be in the left lane unless otherwise marked on the road, and indicate a left turn.
    3. You must give way to traffic already on the roundabout if there is any risk of a collision.
    4. Enter the roundabout when there is a safe gap in the traffic.
    5. Stay in the left lane.
    6. Keep your left indicator on until you have exited the roundabout.

Quote" but if both vehicles arrived at the round a bout at the same time then you would give way to the right."

There is no such rule, Roundabouts, Give Way signs and "T" intersections were introduced to eliminate the Farce of having to give way to the right.
I can remember when you had to give way to the right, traffic was chaos and with the number of cars on the roads nowadays you would not get anywhere in the cities.
The number of rear end crashes because you were driving along a major road when a car pulling out on right had right of way and the car behind didn't see you stopping to give way.
    Check NSW Consolidated Regulations
    Road Rules 2014 - Reg 114

Point is that you need to have camera pointing to the side to catch the incident, if it seems that both cars are going to arrive at the same time and the car on the right assumes that he has right of way then a crash will ensue. By law you must slow down to avoid a collision, it doesn't mean you have to give way to the right.
I approached our local RTA (RMS now) and a Learner driver instructor, he told me that he teaches his drivers to give way to the right because if they don't the RTA inspector will fail them.
I asked the RTA inspector if this was so and he said YES, I asked why, he said it was easier allround, great system of educating drivers, false and misleading info creating even worse drivers, it stinks, Regards Frank.
