Be ready MUCH earlier than the advertised start time, the "professionals" will be there whilst you are still setting up.
Advertise a no entry before 8am or similar,it wont help much.

We're having a garage sale this weekend to help SWMBO and the apprentice SWMBO (my stepdaughter) clear some of their unwanted stuff. I've ratted my shed to provide some stuff, i.e. tools, boat parts and fishing gear to make the ad sound nice to the blokes as well and we're lucky in that our street is fairly short so no street number was given in the ad, only a start time. Any tips to help the morning go smoothly ?.

I agree with get ready early advice.
Last year before we moved to Melbourne we had a "Garage Giveaway". Everything was free but you could make a donation to the RFDS if you wanted.
Anyway, we said 8 o'clock start on the fliers and posters but from about 7 we noticed the same cars driving past the house over and over and the same people kept walking by. They were straight in the moment we started to bring stuff out.
In the end we got rid of almost all our stuff and raised just shy of $300 for RFDS.

Advertise plenty and get a good float of coinage in.

Get some helium balloons out front, as an advertiser for folk driving by...
- We had a ladder parked out front, with balloons flying.... sold the ladder as well !
Price keenly, and resist the temptation of early morning 'Pre-sales Professionals' who will cherry-pick and/or clean out the best of your stuff. - They rarely offer the marked price..... Join the dots
We ended up selling a table that we were using for stock... plus it's 6 dining Chairs.... 1970's ORANGE upholstery...
Dunno what it's like over there.... but have enough "staff" to keep a good look-out for those who totally disagree with any prices....
My two bob's worth.
