Have a look at the Citroen C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007 and see how they compare price wise. They may have depreciated a heap more due to the badges on them ... (they are just an Outlander with different badges and bumpers stuck on).
seeya,

Looking to trade an old runabout in on an Outlander.
Anyone here have one or know of them?
Have driven an auto and it ticked afew boxes.
One car yard salesman said that the auto trans has 100k service intervals.
I wouldnt want to buy a 100k car if the trans had never been serviced.
Is this a concern for this car?

My sister has one that is approaching 10 years old. She normally gets a new car at four years, but was so impressed by it she won't replace it. The only problem has been the non-Mitsi radio.
Her daughter recently bought an ASX, she likes the Outlander too.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Next door neighbour picked one up second hand a while back after he wrote off his Courier ute in a head on prang. He has now given the Outlander to his youngest daughter once she got her licence. Nice little wagon - I like it. They have not had any issues with it at all - and Dave has been known to pull a fairly large trailer loaded with firewood behind it.![]()

My wife has the Peugeot 4007 & we like it a lot. 7 seats, 2000kg tow limit as opposed to 1500 of the Outlander, & a 2.2lt Turbo Diesel as used in the Freelander 2. Leather heated seats, aircon, doesn't leak, water or dust, & returns about 7km/100kms although they claimed 6/100, we have never managed that.![]()
Glad to hear the positive reports.
Any responses to my q about the 100k trans service intervals?
Cheers
Don't know what the go is with the Peugeot yet as that has only reached 43,000kms in 3 years & has the 6 speed Dual Clutch auto ZF. So that will need some expensive servicing - oil change around 120,000kms, and will hopefully be someone else's problem.
The Outlander we had previous to this was a 2009 model with the 5 speed manual, and that needed nothing special & was a great car also. We did 70,000 kms in this & quite a bit on dirt/rough roads with an OzTent on the roof, & fridge slide & drawers in the back. Also managed to fit a full size spare instead of the space saver, but this did reduce ground clearance somewhat. Still have the brand new 15" wheel & tyre as intended to use it on the Peugeot, but is has 18" rims.
If it was me, the 5 speed manual version would be a good buy. The CVT version on the other hand (which felt rubber band like to me driving it) I would have to think about. The current version in the USA is undergoing a recall for a "pregnant pause" type fault which is (fingers crossed) getting fixed with a software patch. Other than that I have heard lots of good things about the Outlanders.
Also, I'm still not quite sold on CVT's for towing though. It would need a shorter transmission service interval at the very least. I don't know how robust Mitsubishi CVT's are, but the mechanic I talked to today who just completed a Subaru refresher course said ($$ wise) it sounded like it was easier to bin the car when the CVT crapped itself.
Good luck with whatever you pick.
That is my point......I dont want to buy a problem ......120k!
Needs to be auto due to swmbos back problem.
might have to go for one with under 70k then get an early trans service done for my peace of mind.
In the one I have test driven you can manually select the gears if you want to.
That might be good for towing.
Will look more into the Pug and Citroen variants...thanks for that Chevron.
Ah, what a bugger about her back. I know what that feels like - not nice! Definitely grab one with lower mileage and see how you go. Best of luck.
