Is the lack of airbags in the Defender a concern for you?
I have driven a MY 2013 Defender 6speed with the 2.2ltr Ford motor,it is as comfortable as a Defender gets the A/c works well but has a lot of area to cool,the2 main A/c vents(round ones)in the upper centre dash work extremely well, his vehicle is metalic black so the A/cworks a little harder,it has no problem cruising at 110+ at about 2275 rpm in 6th has traction control, and is quite comfortable to drive if you are 5ft 10in,above it would be a little cramped on a long driving stint (10hrs+) when he got it he drove to S.A. to run it in,to my knowledge it has only had a leaking front timing case oil seal needing replacement (under warranty)and a scheduled services, last time I spoke to him he hd just replaced the original tyres Pirelli from memory at 99,000 klms, you could not get him out of it with a bomb.
cheers
This never ceases to amuse me to no end and the one about none ABS equipped cars:confused:
The Majority of us grew up with cars that were not equipped with all this also with out seat belts :p.
And of course the majority are still alive and well;)
Also back then the cars were not built for break neck speeds or cornering neither is a Defender if you havent noticed.
I say if it is something you dream of and are aware they dont have wiz bang safety aids that are not on them so be it .
I would not blink to buy another Deefer because of it:D
I guess in this market, maybe it is?
But then again if I had $33k id probably get an ADF ex 110 and add things I wanted from there.
Is my defender worth $33k?
2002 9 seat(4 inward facing in load area) wagon dark blue extreme, 193,000kms.
Front Lucky 8 axles and cv's /flanges with Ashcroft ATB.
Rear(2002 last one with it) Salisbury axle(stronger than 2003 on rover p38 rear) with hy-tuff axles/flanges and a Detroit locker.:D
Gwyn Lewis challenge suspension kit and cranked front and rear arms.
2in lift springs.
dual batteries and Winch
Mulgo rock sliders and ex-box under mid cubby box holding ecu.
2 ECU's one flashed one stock and a nanocom
Rhino aluminum roof tray 2.1 long on heavy duty racks that stick out both sides.
-25mm 16x8 black dynamics with 315/75 new toyo's as well as original alloys with 5, 255/85 bighorns, 2 80% others 25% tread. Alloy wheel 30mm spacers as well if you want to use the alloys. With the gwyn lewis kit the travel of your axles is extended which results in the rear tyre rubbing on the spring mount at full flex, but it give bloody good articulation! Tyres don't rub with either the spacers fitted or the -25mm wheels.
Flexi Flares to cover the 35's.
Spotties and an led bar wiring, with mounts that's got to be fitted soon!
New ECU harness after oil in it last year.
Stainless exhaust from turbo to rear muffler.
EGR bypass
Silicone hoses on turbo etc.
Snow vent cover,
Bonnet and wing and rear quarter aluminium cheq plate
Rear corner protectors
Aftermarket wheel carrier.
When I first got it had chassis rustproofed so none there as far as I can see.
that's all I can remember:eek:
Its been owned by me for last 6 years, always serviced at my mechanic and there is a history he can show. I have some of the receipts floating around the car but was intended as a lifer I never really kept them, but he can quote each service date and oil used etc.
The bad.
The flares need tightening as it was a rush job fitting them. Still have originals in a box.
The paint needs some touching up around vents and on the front side panel its peeled the gloss top layer off a small patch. that's an after Chrissy job.
Usual bush pinstripes from being offroad but no panel impact damage.
Maybe mines worth more ROFL!
But with an offer of $33 it would be tempting, then I would buy a adf 110 to modify all over again!
That's a similar story to my 2009.
Incidentally, the seat comfort thing is a $50 fix with a set of Mulgo seat rail extenders, which are easy to fit. I'm 6ft 2 inches and with the seat rail extenders I don't even need to have the seat all the way back to be comfortable.

Curious here.... at 6ft2ins & with the seat rail mod, how's your vision out the front windscreen? When stopped at a set of lights, do u have to dip your head a fair bit to see the traffic lights?
The reason I ask is I had the chance to sit in one with extended rails and I found when I sat in the seat and in the straight up driving position, that my line of sight was level with the top of the windscreen, limiting my vision out..... is this normal with the seat rail mod?
I forgot , I also have the seat rail extender , but in a pre puma the seat base is not as thick as the puma so even though it does raise the seat about 10mm it doesn't have any effect on vision. Maybe because the puma seats are thicker that slight lift is enough to effect it?
