I've seen a RACV tow truck (an old Bedford) recover a Mazda Bongo van (and a goat called Billy) from a logging track in Wombat.
Admittedly, that was in the days before "Total Care".

Just goes to show the changing nature of the tow truck operators nowdays.

    Reading through this:

    https://www.racv.com.au/content/dam/...ates-FINAL.pdf

I see nothing about National Parks... and under areas covered it says this..

Service will be provided on private property or on any public highway in Victoria, provided they are trafficable to normal two wheel drive vehicles. This excludes areas such as open fields, beaches, creek beds, recreation ovals, bicycle paths, bicycle tracks, logging or forest service roads and roads which do not allow oncoming traffic to safely pass. Where service is required in large car parks, the driver will be required to meet the Service Provider at a predetermined meeting point.

Sounds like the person dealing with your claim was an arsehole.

I'll be watching this closely as I have Total Care.... when I took it out years ago, I asked lots and lots of questions - at the time you were covered on any gazetted road in Australia.

On a positive note.... how good are those D4's
They could easily argue that the road wouldn't allow oncoming traffic to safely pass - that gives them an out on any road less than 5 metres wide...

Sucks big time, but the learning here is to get someone recover you to a bitumen road before calling them...

How odd it is that the good old "no name and shame" rule isn't being applied here . . .
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Had the same thought myself , mostly because a mob with the sort of money they have use of could be a problem . Specially as there is talk of media involvement .

Everyone seems happy to bag out Britpart, Toyota, Nissan and all sorts of other large companies too, so I think it's assumed that larger companies are fair game and I believe the laws around larger buisnesses makes it harder or impossible to sue, but I could be wrong.

Not sure if that makes it right and it's a good question so I might go ask some others...

I've been very careful to stay with the facts in this post. I know they record every call so there's no sense in mis-quoting them.

Legal action could only be initiated if the statements made were substantially different from the facts and they're not.

Actually they can take steps to initiate an action whether you tell the truth or not

It comes down to who has the deepest pockets in some cases...

There are guidelines we try to stay in and sometimes the lines are very blurred so it can make it very hard to discern the correct action to take

The no name and shame rules here are there to protect people from themselves and the site if it escalates

    This thread is very borderline...
