Be good if they allow holden engine conversions in land rovers. I could get the 1975 s3 on historic rego.

It is not as good as it sounds. The cost of historic registration is set to go up to 1/4 of the full yearly registration fee. That may be a small increase for a four cylinder sedan, but for a V8 or a commercial vehicle, it will go up by quite a lot. My SIIa ute is over $1100 for a whole year on full registration. I don't know what my 6t WWII truck would be for a year. Over $2000? That would make it $500 for historic registration, when it currently is around $100. Considering it only gets driven around four times a year, I will most likely not register it, and go back to a $50 unregistered vehicle permit. For club events, these are available for up to ten days.

Wow, that blows big time then. Sounds like it will still hold back a lot of people from being able to enjoy their classics on the road.![]()

I spoke to a friend last night who has a simi on historic registration. He said that full registration on the prime mover is around $8000 and the trailer $1500. That would make the outfit nearly $2500. It is currently $300. This semi is not used for paying work. It only gets used around two or three times a year to float other historic vehicles (smaller trucks and tracked vehicles) to various club meets and displays.

Your 6t truck will be on the national scheme.
Interestingly, being on the national scheme, the 6x6 Perentie should be cheaper to register than the 4x4 Perentie in the ACT. Might be close to that in SA. A 6x6 is a little over $1200 py rego & third party.
Oh, and I should point out, here in Vic., the club rego cost is about 1/4 of the yearly rego cost.
This is how it should be....just renewed rego in NZ of S111, $48 per year, no restrictions, normal rego. We are rorted here in SA.
Cheers Baz.
