Hello All,
Thank you for the lead Railey. I did some more digging based off your identification and it turns out that "The SH-1 sounds pretty good and makes a nice alternative to the more popular and plastic SH-101. It has been used by Depeche Mode and Vince Clarke. Accessed December 21, 2016 from Roland SH-1 | Vintage Synth Explorer.
Kind Regards

Hello All,
Further digging on Youtube and I found this description by rox2u
Vince and Alf takes to the stage and preform a playback version of there new single Nobody's Diary at Top Of The Pops in may 1983. Vince have a Roland SH-101 synth, fitted with a modhandle and a guitar strap. But don't let you be fooled into believe that he used that synth for recording the song, he used several Sequential Circuits Pro One synths for the Yazoo sound. Accessed December 22, 2016 from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwYgL36rteY. Well that is it for me for the night.
Kind Regards
Lionel
Clark used a few different "mainstream" synths to record with, and probably went with the 101 to shoot the video as it can be portable. I had one of these for awhile, and if its the 80's synth sound you're after, it hits the mark and is simple to use if you're a beginner.
