Well our son comes back tomorrow from Japan. He has finished his course there and will go to Swinburne next year for his final year. He is going business class as they sent him an up grade offer that you bid on and he won (Qantas). They have those big seat that you can make into a bed. He gets better food and free drinks, and he can wait in the business class lounge for his flight that leave at 7pm tonight (Japan time). He said that it is a once in a life time experience for him as he could never afford this in the future again. So early morning for us to pick him up at 7.30 am. One very happy mum![]()
Well he is in the business lounge, having some free food and you can mix your own free drinks, beer or spirits. Just as long as he doesn't drink too much before he get on the plane.![]()
Too late now but maybe he could have sold the seat to recoup the loss elsewhere. No take it when you can 😀
Hopefully he will have a good sleep and arrive refreshed so he can enjoy being back home and with his family again.
We are off to the airport in an hour to pick up the youngest daughter who is coming home from Cairns for a few days. There is a very happy mum ( and dad ) in this house as well.
Hope your family have a wonderful Christmas together .
Cheers Ean
He doesn't want to sleep much as he doesn't want to miss anything. They treated him like royalty, and offer him PJ'S as well. he was talking to the flight attendant who got excited by his Hanshin Tigers hat (baseball) and start reminiscing when she lived in Osaka.HE things it is going to be a fun flight.![]()
We arrived at the airport and flight was about 15 mins late, but when it landed he was stuck on the plane for nearly an hour due to lightning strikes around the area, it was too unsafe for ground crew to be out in the open. There were also about 5 flights that landed ahead of his on which passengers had not left their plane, so it would have been crowded at arrivals customs/immigration Eventually he got off. Waiting outside the Arrival doors isn't the most comfortable place to stand and wait it found , they have very limited seating. The old back was starting to hurt some.
What was the first thing Brendon do on his way home? Make us stop at the local Gym to re instate his membership. He missed going to the gym in Japan, not many there it seems.
He did bring me home a 1.1litre bottle of Jim beam duty free,$27.50 at Melb airport arrivals. Seems we get stung big time on taxes if we buy it from a shop on the other side of that door.
Nice to have family back over Christmas to share isn't it Ean. Have a wonderful xmas. Brendon is glad to be back but he did feel sad when he had to hand his residency card back in on leaving Tokyo, they removed it from his pass port but gave it back to him as a memento with a hole punched in it. He didn't think he would be so sad leaving, but he made a lot of friends over there, some locals and some overseas students.
He also told us many of the Japanese students would love to come to study at a uni in Australia, when the put in applications to study abroad they get knocked back if they choose countries other than USA. Seems to be some shifty business going on, since they can not choose a sister uni in another country. He has brought this up with his Australian uni as this is very unfair and deprives his Japanese counter parts from studying here in oz and learning of our culture.
