I think the limitations of which models it is available on is odd....but I agree, the additional features of TR2 are not a make or break in my mind... TR has been constantly evolving anyway.

I won't be running to the queue to be the first with the new model.... in fact I'm more interested in what they come up with as a Defender replacement - but considering previous D4 pricing and nothing I see here seems too surprising.

Frantic, you cannot fairly compare the TC in the D2's and defenders to that in the D3/D4... they are a totally different beast.

It would be like comparing a 200Tdi, a Puma and an SDV6 and arguing " but they are all diesels"..

Even the TC in the 2014/ 2015 D4's is significantly better than in the 2010 and earlier models.

Little OT but, I just updated the TR software in my MY10 D4 to the latest version (same software version number as MY14+) and in the very limited times I have utilised it so far, it is behaving how people describe the latest TR - definitely different to how it was before.

Tell me more please? When I asked Gordon he told me TR couldn't be updated.

I wonder why he said that? It's just software - all the hardware is the same part numbers... I just used the "fast lane service" through GAP to purchase the relevant Land Rover software update (25 GBP) and used my IID Tool to do it. These software updates are available from any dealer too.
