About 15 years ago my old (now deceased) ex spitfire pilot took me up in his Cessna 180. This was in the hanger at the airport. As we approached I saw a bird fly out from under the cowling. My mate didn't see this. I told him and on checking there was a nest between the engine block and the fire wall. If I hadn't seen the bird I am sure that the fire wall might have come into play. My mate recons we would have had a midair fire. Lucky I caught the quick bird flight.
