When he gave it up for a few months he was in a bad way, went back to partaking and instant relief.

Have you noticed that many Kiwis pronounce "woman" and "women" the same way? The first time I heard someone refer to a group of women in what sounded like the singular "woman", I was confused.
(For the Kiwis reading this, we pronounce the plural as "wimmen".)
