Somewhere I have another set of words to this song from 1917 - starts "When I was a lad I served a term, as cat destroyer in a sausage firm.....", and has the refrain "And now I am a General in Germany!"

It is in a collection of songs compiled for members of the Sydney University Regiment serving in France.

Simple. Liberally laced (or loaded) with SUGAR - a cheap & nasty preservative.

I'm pretty certain you are not allowed to add any preservative to milk and sell it as "milk".
