try working out the rotation of the planet gears in a planetary reduction drive....
for each possible power input and output if you have the ability to drive, or hold the sun, anulus and planetry holder independently. As in you could drive all three components, let all the components free wheel or brake all three components or any possible variation of those 3.
Just getting the direction is fun enough, working out the relative ratios and surface speeds will give you conniptions.
Not so bad if you're holding one and driving one as is generally done in automatics and winch gearboxes. But for diferential drive where any part can be anything.
