To be fair to the Prince of Darkness, he inhabited every Pommie car of the 50s and 60s. With only two fuses in the entire system, it was simple and reliable enough for the day. As an added bonus, if you removed either fuse and placed it between the fuse holders, no ignition key was necessary. [biggrin]

Ron, a trick that not many know is that positive earth smoke will work in negative earth systems. You simply have to put the smoke in from the other end.
I took up smoking so as to be able to utilise the silver foil in the packet, as a fuse replacement.
A .22 LR works at a pinch, but can get noisy if highh currents are involved.
