Can't see from those shots but one wonders if that could also be the Centre Steer. I wonder whether it also requires a "Flight Engineer" to baby it or could it have been based on a Spitfire Platform to do away with that necessity?

    TiC of course.

I doubt it's the centre steer, Des. More likely the even rarer, hard up against the tailgate steer.

The Bell Aurens Longnose never got the Merlin fitted - that was the original design concept, but it is a super cool vehicle.

Maybe The Stand on the Tailgate Steer? If pushed "The Run behind the tailgate very quickly Steer?"

I note it has a very similar Luggage Section ah la MG. I could do that ride no probs, with my eyes closed tightly. "COBDEN? That way" >>>>.

The arse end looks like it may have started life as a Aussie Gun Buggy -ish.

Standard steering position. The engineering is quite straightforward - using a series 3 chassis, the outriggers for the firewall are moved back, then the cab built off that. The steering uses an extended rod between the standard steering box and the steering relay and you're done. I did look at doing a project like this and worked through a few things with the Engineer which was all quite doable. The stumbling block was going to be visibility at the front of the vehicle - you have to be able to see the road 7 metres in front of the drivers position or something like that which wasn't likely to work, but at one stage I was seriously thinking about building one. The one pictured is exceptionally well crafted and I absolutely love it. If I win Tatts, I'd build one, even if I could only drive it up and down the driveway.
