Memories indeed. I started watching the video and instantly thought "Alan Funt!! I haven't heard his voice in more than forty years!"

CC was a fave at my place. Dad wasn't known for his sense of humour, and Funt could even get him to laugh.

    Hi,
And in spring when the ice on puddles cracks and splashes up under the mudguards, it re freezes to icicles and can lock the front wheels' direction so you have to climb under and free it to turn corners.
    Brrr!
    Cheers

My father tells the story of driving in western Queensland (cannot remember the road sorry) in late fifties after rain when came across an Armstrong Sapphire which had been stopped by the mud. It was building up under the mudguards stopping the wheels from turning. Driver was out of the car using an axe to remove the mud guards from what was a very expensive car. From the story as it was told I believe the driver was not very happy

About 12years ago I was working on a work site in Blackwater, the sticky black mud built up the front guards & couldn't turn steering wheel & under the tray wheels. Thought I had dug out all the mud & headed back to Brisbane. The heat from the discs baked the mud rock hard on the upper ball joint. It was ok while driving on the highway at speed because tyres were tall & skinny but once I slowed down & tyre became wide the tyre started rubbing on the baked mud wearing halfway through the side wall. Two new tyres were required the next day.
