Don't know the rules for N.S.W. Though you could try Land Rover Owners Club Australia - Sydney Branch We know several members, they are a good bunch.

Hello,
I am hoping to register my SWB S3 as a classic,
please can someone run me through the process?
i believe there are a number of boxes to tick:
- Club membership - can you recommend a NSW club?
- vehicle inspection? (equivalent of a pink slip?)
- log book? to be completed?
I would also like to know how others have their vehicles detailed? is it a Wagon? ute? car?
any help would be appreciated,
Thanks a lot,
Tim

The club is your choice really, go with a club that is nearby and basically related to your vehicle(ie) pommie vehicle based, go to a meeting to see how you feel, if you don't like that club pick another one.
The Log book system is the better way to go, don't forget to use code G094 when filling out the form, makes getting your plates easier, the club should have a rep for historic rego with all the info you need to get your vehicle on club plates and run you through this.
I've just been through this myself, our club had all the forms and all the inspectors numbers on the clubs website, once I filled out the forms, I contacted one of the club inspectors, made an appointment to have the bike(in my case) inspected, once he passed it, I went to the rego office and 20 minutes later it was registered.

Hi Tim,
as Ho Ha has said go to Land Rover Owner's Club Sydney Branch web site and contact them. You will need to join, then get a hand written pink slip not the electronic version from a Pink Slip inspection place and the club will provide a stamped approval for this rego and then off to RMS--club may wish to just see car first to verify it is as you say it is but they do not do the inspection. Pay around $100 --approx and that includes your Green Slip and once you get your log book from them you can now use the car for 60 or 90 days a year(can't remember if 60 or 90) --it is a good system now.
thanks guys,
i have just signed up as a member, and for the 60 days option,
i cant wait to get on the road!!
Tim,
Some clubs may stipulate attending "X" amount of meetings etc. before they will sign off for you to get the vehicle on the Club Permit Scheme. If you let your club membership lapse, ie become an unfinancial member, your vehicle is deemed unregistered, so it is important to keep up the club membership.
The club may also have a minimum number of meetings/functions per year that you are required to attend. The Club Registrar is required to inspect the vehicle each year before renewal of the permit.
The permit is "non transferable" so if you change clubs, or the vehicle changes hands you have to go through the registration process again.
If the Club is an approved Club for the (NSW) "two year log book trial" then you have "sixty days" use, "plus" use for club meetings/days, however the club I am in (which is on the NSW/Vic border and covers permits in both states) has a ruling that "all use" requires a log book entry.
It is a great system, but requires good control so that it is not open to abuse/misuse.
Cheers, Mick.
