Limiting Employment Search to "Regional" Areas

    Hello All,

It seems during their recent upgrades the options of selecting a "Where" or "Location" used to allow a state to be nominated and then had a drop down menu option where one could eliminate capital city jobs and just select "Regional Jobs"

For example now with "Seek" you type in "New South Wales" and the old pick a suburb in Sydney - or regions like Southern Tablelands or "All Regional" do not appear in the drop down menu. Indeed used to have this function too. As in past tense.

The only one I have found so far that list Regional New South Wales or any other state or territory which has the choice for "Regional" is as Accessed January 18 2017 EthicalJobs.com.au - Community Jobs, Environmental Jobs & Not-For-Profit Jobs

I do try to type in the keywords or in the "What" section typing in things like Research NOT Sydney and then writing in the "Where" section New South Wales with some effect however, its results are far from perfect.

If I do not write anything in the "Where" section I write "Research NOT Sydney NOT Adelaide NOT Melbourne" in the "What" section.

What do other people do to be able to restrict pages of unwanted metro-jobs out of the job search equation?

What employment searches do you use to just get regional-rural based jobs coming up in your searches.

Oh you would never guess that I am a "country boy" would you. My favourite view of a major city is in the rear view mirror as it diminishes in size behind me.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Must be an eastern states thing. I just checked, and I can still enter Kalgoorlie / Goldfields Region WA as I have always done.

Trouble is that more and more jobs advertised for this region are advertised as FIFO from Perth only.
    Cheers .........

    Hello BMKai,

What job search engine do you use?

To experiment I just typed into Seek under their "Where" section and once Western Australia is typed in no other options come up. While typing in "Western" other options come up on screen (as per the attached image) but as the full term "Western Australia" is typed up these options stop.

    Hello Tim,

    Thank you for the reply.

have you tried speaking to a recruitment agent? whilst most would be city biased, i'm sure there would be someone who can assist in your search!?

    good luck with the search!

    Hello All,

Well there is now one application in for a diesel apprenticeship. Another one for with a different crew will be put in over the next couple of days. I am also applying for research jobs too.

I put in my application the links to the Federal Government's "Restart" programme...

The Restart wage subsidy is designed to help employers hire eligible mature age job seekers who are 50 years of age and over.

Employers can receive up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) over 12 months if they employ eligible mature age job seekers. From 1 January 2017 all wage subsidies are being improved https://www.employment.gov.au/restar...ture-workers-0

There are also some Australian Public Service jobs coming up that I can apply for too.

My new eyes (contact lenses) will be arriving in the post next week. Here is to a much better 2017. I am glad 2016 is over - the year of kicks to the guts.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel
