And lets's hope we never do. It always amuses me that those who have never been in harms way, are usually the bravest.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

All victorians must be in a state of shock, at the moment. Please accept my wife mary's and my condolences. This doesn't mean society is breaking down, it's just a blip. And a reminder to keep those you love the most, close.

How does someone being a murderer justify Society (us) becoming a murderer?

Yes, it is tragic, yes, probably should have been locked up some time ago, no we can not predict what anyone will do in certain circumstances, no, we can not read the future. And, yes, we have probably got the mix of a criminals rights & law enforcements right out of whack.
Yes, in the first flush of anger & shock I thought "Why didn't they just shoot the ***** in the head?"

I hope the full weight of the law comes down on him & he is taken out of society permanently.

But to kill him? Not such an easy thing I would think.

Not trying to start an argument, just give a contrary (& my) point of view.

It's a bit of a Martin Bryant thing, we all wanted him executed at the time, now, except those directly affect, probably don't think about him at all.

Good point.....now that he is in custody than happy to let the system process him however

In the middle of running people down and killing them.......than I still support shoot first ask questions later, this may have stopped some of the carnage.

On another note, what's the story with the guy with the baseball bat.....how did he happen to have a baseball bat with him.

    Was he a shop keeper?
A lot of shop owners/managers keep some form of protection under the counter.

Latest gem of information - apparently he was out on bail. Police had opposed bail. I wonder if he was attempting "suicide by cop"?

    Possibly he plays Baseball.

I have what would be a suitable - not weapon based - item in my vehicle... it's a piece of sporting gear.

It's actually in there for when I'm playing I just don't take it out...
