    Electricity wiring question..

Hello forum of wisdom.. Calling on the Sparkys amongst us.... As some of you know, I'm having a new home built by Rivergum Homes here in South Australia. The first fix plumbing went in yesterday, and the first fix power went in today.. My question is 'Is there a minimum legal distance that has to be between 240 volt cables, water pipes and gas pipes'? I'll let the picture tell the story. The yellow pipe is gas....

I actually thought the direction it ran was more of a concern - didn't think you could run horizontal in a wall any more, or change direction or something... Not sure on the segregation these days, I'll go check AS3000 now. Pretty ****ty at best, I wouldn't run cable like that just out of good practice no matter what the reg book says.

Don't do residential stuff much, but I'll see what I can find, there will be others here that will know off the top of their heads.

    From AS/NZS3000:2007

    Clause 3.9.8.4 - Proximity to non-electrical services.

( B ) Gas and water services. Requirements for the separation of distributed gas and water systems from low voltage wiring systems are provided in the AS/NZS 5601 series for gas services and AS/NZS 3500 for water services.

So, no idea, as I don't have that standard. Maybe a set of side cutters through the offending cables before they get to the site and say some local kids must have done it during the night...

Cool. I thought I'd ask the question before I started to throw the poo! With that I'll share another pic... Of the bath install.. where they've cut the tub into an external wall and a bedroom wall.. They then plan to Gyproc it in place and tile over it... 'Its the way we install baths and is less likely to allow moisture in this way'.. Feast your eyes on this!!!!

Nope. Another fail. No wet wall means leaks go straight into the frame...

Also means you'll never remove that bath without major destruction.

The correct way just loses a row of tiles.
