Since moving to Vic I've seen nothing like it. I take the left lane on Eastlink to get to work and pass all those flogs in the right hand lane that don't overtake.
Amazing too how often they impede a CFA pumper with lights and sirens.
The road from Geelong to Drysdale in Vic has multiple 'Keep left unless overtaking' signs along it, but for some reason they are ignored by drivers who think its ok to do 80 in the right lane pacing themselves with a car in the left lane.
Just in the last couple of weeks a massive 'Don't tailgate' sign has appeared along that stretch.
We all know what the cause of tailgating in the right hand lane generally is, but now it seems that the symptom is going to get booked, rather than the cause.

When you get a lane hog doing that, even if you flash your lights or blow your horn to wake them up so you can pass on the right lane at the posted allowable speed limit you would be deemed a Road Rager!for doing that. I don't condone speeding, but if the posted speed limit is higher than what the vehicle in front of you is traveling at they should not be hogging the right lane and allow traffic to pass at the designated safe speed.
When driving to & from Doomadgee I also sit smack in the middle of the road. Might only be a Nano-second of extra time if an animal comes charging out but I figure it all helps. With the rain we have had you a hitting the weeds & grass if you get over to the left anyway.
I do move left for bends, curves etc.
BTW have you noticed how people all speed up as soon as there are 2 lanes?
Sot on 90 on the normal road, Oh, an overtaking lane, I'll do 105 now!
Annoying.

PS Have I spelt all this correctly?
If there's a vehicle in the left lane say, 3 k's ahead of me, doing 90 kph & I'm in the right lane, doing 100kph, aren't I overtaking it???? (@10kph).

Seems nothings changed on the roads in Vic at least since I lived there in 1972.
Having arrived from the UK where virtually every driver moves automatically back to the left after over taking, I was appalled and sometimes frightened at the antics displayed by local drivers.
I well remember driving with elder bro down to Geelong and being stuck behind a cab driver sitting in the right hand lane, right alongside another vehicle.
"No good flashing lights at drivers here" bro said, "They don't look in their mirrors and they're allowed to do it as long as they don't speed".
"You watch" he continued "the cab will turn right when we get into Geelong" and he did, 3dr turning on the right off he turned, with no indications of course.
"Told you so" bro said "that's what locals call planning your driving"....
Nothings changed it seems except cars have got much better and actually now have brakes etc.
