One of the guys I work with was doing a course over the Xmas break. He's back at work later this week. I'll find out who he went through and if it was any good.
SWMBO has suggested a birthday present for youngest son, the 'Motor Mechanic' who just bought a ford ranger...
We suspect that Chick Magnet might be an influence, as parking on our front lawn is as much Off-Road it's been so far.
#1 Son and I "borrowed" it whilst he was away with a mate (in mate's 4WD....) and took it for a jolly down the Powerlines track, where the diesel's willingness to work impressed both of us.
Ride was... well, what do we expect with cart springs and torsion bars... ?
Anyway, we all suspect that 'Lack of knowledge & Confidence' is what's keeping him from exploring, so we're thinking a "Beginner's 4WD Driving Course" would be a good start.
Any suggestions for which organization would be suitable / value for $$s ? I was thinking of a one or two days effort, say 'Basic' and 'Beach' for starters... He can extend it to 'Advanced' and 'Recovery' if/when he decides to take it further.
- Or, any to stay clear of..... - via PM, of course.
Might even encourage him to help get Sarah back on the road....![]()

RAC do or maybe did a couple if I remember a recent change where they all got kicked out of the airport circuit, also the Gypsy? mob. Eureka has always been up there, don't know about any others. Not cheap, but recommended.

Great idea for a present - I love WA for my self paced 4WD training. If my memory is not totally shot I think White hill just south of Mandurah exiting the beach about 40km south after fishing and camping the night many times and a trip or two to the pinnacles via Lancelin island will get most bogged and have a load of fun. Sand dunes at Lancelin are also very cool.
My beginner course needed a few people to push my mates superu {Usually just me}with shockingly low ground clearance out of the sand bogs and a little knowledge about lower tyre pressures. About 20 psi and a compressor to pump the tires back up and a good supply of water might suffice. Gordon might assure you of getting Grand kids![]()
