While I'm sure they'll fill in the gaps at some stage, it seems to me a free for all - Rock up with your Land Rover and do whatever - you know, you've been before.... but I haven't...

Other large events involving lots of vehicles usually have heaps more detail to let newcomers know how things work and the lie of the land - all this seems lacking here.

While I'm sure I'll find somewhere suitable to put the van for a few nights and head out and explore what's to do, get involved and have a blast it just comes across as a bit half arsed from where I sit, and while I'm sure that's not the case and the organisers are working hard, they need to be aware not all of us are in their Clubs, or have been there before and have the knowledge and experience they have - communication is the key to any successful venture and I feel it is lacking here is all.

As this is the Countries largest Land Rover forum I also thought the organisers may be spruking it a bit here but the website link had to be posted by a member that came across it who has also never attended.

If you want to pass this constructive criticism onto someone in the know maybe it could help them better understand the needs of those who haven't attended before instead of thinking everyone knows what the go is.

We would prefer to camp where the main event will be held( as done at the Sydney Expo and Melrose).
This allows us the ability to a have social drink or two with other people which can only add to the event atmosphere.
With lots of people staying in motels etc. parking around the show grounds is another concern.

Does anyone know what the onsite camp fees are(and how to book)?
Whats the entry cost for the event?
Is there an extra charge for each Land Rover for those who take more than one?
Hard to budget when there is no information.

As mentioned we are not members of any of the organising clubs so relying on what is posted here or the event web site.
To be honest it's starting to feel like non club members are not invited.

Well I think your all over re-acting.

I see a post in ask a mod saying airfield is not an option

I'm sure more info will come along, just be patient. There is enough info and as I have mentioned that I have booked at the caravan park to not have to worry, if I Helen to be quick enough to get a spot at show grounds all good and well.

Booking details for camping, registration and merchandise will all pop up soon, I'm sure as soon as it does somebody will post in here.

Not sure everybody has to compare against Melrose, if cooks doesn't suit your need than move over to the Melrose thread tread, register and go to the event, I'm sure it will be a great event as well.

Oh I believe AULRO do have a member that is in contact with the organisors.

If I was the only one, I'd say maybe I am over reacting but I'm clearly not the only one, so I guess it's not just me. I never compared it to Melrose so not sure why you're bringing that up - only one passing comment about that along with several others.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

It was a general response covering off on several comments across a number of posts including Melrose by others.

Months ago I was asking/keen to find out the location as it was rumored there were several options for venues. Yep I do understand member wanting more to satisfy them. I'm sure the organisors are very aware now given it appears there have been a number of email sent. Not ideal for some but I guess the only option is to either sit back and wait or start planning regardless.

    For us....

Once venue and dates were confirmed that was enough for us to start planning our two week trip.

They have a schedule of events, RHS allows us to plan what we may do each day with the event or do our own thing, Sunday will probably be the only day we are interested in, watch the grand parade than have a look around the showgrounds.

They have indicated camping at the show grounds (200 spots if the post in 'ask a mod' is correct) and other options. Like any events (music,Tri's etc) we go to where accommodation can be difficult I jump o the net and find something as soon as dates are released.

The 60th booked out quick, especially the main dinner, I wasn't quick enough so you will need to be on the ball for the dinner and show ground camping when the booking arrangements are released as numbers are limited

We have booked a powered site at the Caravan Park in Cooma. The other 2 caravan parks they suggest are about 35k's out of Cooma. I see a some of the accom options in the Caravan Park are booking up fast.
