I don't think SVG is that 'old'
Anyway, what he did say was the car was a slug down conrod,so he had to try his utmost across the top, which I suppose means taking more risks.
And eventually,got caught out.....

The Ford GT deserves to be in this race hopefully it is next year. A nice GT40 is still on my dream car list...
Not "attacking" anyone, you are the one that initially described the WI "cashed up bogans", referred to me as "some random", V8 Supercars "racing taxis" etc etc in "derogatory" terms, etc, which is your right.....I am not "attacking" you but I'm certainly strongly disagreeing with you. Perhaps, if you didn't initially use derogatory language, then perhaps a better tone would be set. I don't know as "some random" what your motor car/sport interests are, if indeed you have any, but I wouldn't be attaching derogatory/belittling terms to them, as you have to mine,..simply different tastes,..IMHO of course.
But if you wish to be continually "negative", & not have a single good thing to say about what is a very good car, for its particular market of course, that being the Mustang, when the WORLD press acclaim the car.
When you place up CONTINUAL negative press about V8 Supercars.
When you have nothing but derogatory stuff to say about the W1, produced against the odds, by an Aussie company "having a go", in difficult circumstances, and which will probably go down in Aussie motoring circles as the best car ever made in this Country,..compare the W1 with Ford's last "effort". There was a heap of work in this car, over several years, so yeah, a little bit of appreciation for a good effort would be good, would it not?
So yes, when you have NOTHING positive to say, about stuff where there are many positives, I will defend & promote those positives, and there are many, about the W1, and Supercars, although obviously, you don't recognize them.
But, Mr Mustang, I do recognize that you have as much right as I do, or anyone else to agree or disagree, so all is good with me.
Pickles.
NB: Your comment re "Focus RS"?..Couldn't see one in the entry list. The only Focus I could see were several specially built by "Marc Cars",...which run a 500HP Ford V8.
I'll answer the question from the point of view of someone whose favourite period of Australian motorsport was the 1985 JH 1000 when the Jaguars won followed by the 1982 race when the nicest sounding vehicle, the Camaro was hopelessly outclassed and ended up on its roof. In 1985 there were 16 different vehicles competing in the race, all of which bore a reasonable resemblance to cars that you could theoretically buy (even a Rover).
Although the supercar formula provides a safer, faster and more consistent platform for the drivers there is a very large amount of interest lost in the fact that they are just skinned space frames. Also the intrigue behind the teams pushing the envelope of the production engineering from a development and homologation point of view added more interest to the rivalry between teams.
If only there was a way to get the production car formula back as the commercial flavour of motor racing..... FWIW It would have been interesting not only to see a Holden represented in the 12 hour but also a well thought out turbo six Falcon.

Well, for me it was a bit different, I only had it on as background for a while, and, although not really my cup of tea, I did like the look of the big Bentley :D .
I did happen to see on a restart, the Merc do some wiggling after the green flag,,, did he end up getting pipped for that?
Although not my cup of tea, it's a another type of racing and yes it's different to the supercars and production racing, I used to enjoy the old bathurst also, but that's gone now, it's time to move on.
There is lots of production racing out there, even vintage racing from the good old days, only way to make it popular again is go out to the track and watch them.
Anyway my point is, you can't compare the two types, so please keep it on subject, the thread is about the 12hr, if you want to talk about comparisons, start another thread, please.
