I dont mind that. I still reckon the freelander should of had low range from the factory. Matt

As a Freelander driver - makes sense to me - Freelander wheelbase is a basically the same as a Disco/RR and the freelander's track is a couple of mm wider than a disco/rr. Engine bay is big enough for a North South engine - as said by Ace - pity the FL didn't come with low range as standard. Easily done at the design stage and a lot cheaper than the rediculous arrangement they have at present.
PS - nearly rapped off a Disco TD5 in a drag from 60k to 100k around Parliament House - the TD5 was just a spoofteenth faster - bummer. Would be quicker if I had a TD4.
Maybe next time,
.

was most probably the same person responsible for
1. Putting the spare under the D3
2. Deciding that we all want independant suspension instead of live axles on new models
3. Letting a computer decide when to engage low range
4. Not making a V8 or auto Defender
the list can go on and on...

Yep. If the Freelander had low range I'd probably be motoring around in one now, a lot cheaper than the Rangie.
(Bit I'd keep the Rangie  )
