    Home made hand cleaner

I have used a variety of commercial hand cleaners, all with varying success.
My home made cleaner seems to have had the best results.
It is a mixture of powder clothes detergent and wet dishwashing liquid. I combine enough dish washing detergent with the dry soap powder to make a paste, and I keep this paste in a small sealed jar.
When it comes time to clean my hands I first wet my hands then get some of my cleaner and rub it into my hands, then rinse off with water.

If you have sensitive skin this mixture may not be for you.

    Hi,
With boiling water, that will clean mineral based paint from brushes instead of turpentine.
    Cheers

I've tried Clothes washing powder on it's own and it does the job quite well, but it does build up heat in a reaction with water, so maybe I will try your concoction as it shouldn't have that reaction once mixed and stored.

I have tried a lot of different hand cleaners, but usually just have a bottle of dishwashing concentrate for the job,
however if I using it a lot I find that the skin starts to dry out and get cracks. A while back I came across a bottle of
Solvol Hand Cleaner in Bunnings and decided to give it a go. It's good stuff.

    Cheers, Mick.

The Mrs bought me some Earth Friendly French stuff from Bunnings which was good - but I dont think they sell it anymore. I use the SCA brand I think its Citrus derived and has some kind of grit in it. I had thought of using washing Powder. Whats in it ? Soda?
    cheers,

I've had a large 5L bottle of Lightning fast orange hand cleaner for the past 10 years.
I think it cost me 25 bucks or so. Never needed anything else.

The grain in the mix is the trick though. I've used laundry powder but it is too caustic, and the skin on my knuckles split open an hour later. If you were going to DIY, with the softer cleaners (shampoo, dish liquid concentrate) then consider some kind of grit like pumice or walnut or even fine sand.
