Workshop Northern and North Western Australia

We are do a big trip starting in July and by the time we reach the Kimberley we will have travelled 10,000ks, I need somewhere that can do a basic service, we'll be popping out into civilisation near Marble Bar then on to Karatha and camping at Cleaverville Beach on the 19th August, so from there we'll be looking for somewhere to get the car serviced, any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't need to be a Land Rover specialist, just someone who is trustworthy.

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

I haven't used any on our trips to the NW but there are a couple in Broome and one in Kununurra on the attached National Service List.

I've used Tropical Motors in Broome a couple of times and they were helpful and competent. There's a business in Kununurra that once had a LR agency and the owner there was a big help to us some time ago but I don't recall the business name. Give the dealer in Karratha a wide berth.

In 2014 I had average service in Broome but very good in Kunanurra at a mechanic as stated before that was an authorised service centre when they had a dealer

If you will be re-entering "civilization" at Marble Bar and then heading from there to Kattatha, Broome is in the wrong direction for you.

Are you heading further down the coast after Karratha ?

If so, Whyatts at Geraldton have a very good reputation with Land Rovers if you can make it that far to get your service done.
    Cheers .........

We heading for Broome then Derby, seems like Broome it is, if I can find a spot and I can get rid of the old oil, I'll do the service myself.
    Cheers Baz.

I'm not sure if it's still available but when I stayed at the 80 mile beach campground back in 1997 there was a service pit near the reception/shop which the campers could use free of charge. I made good use of it and serviced my D1 and a friends D2 while there. I can't recall now but they must have had some facility to dispose of the old oil.

More a Land Rover Owners thing rather than an 'East Coast' thing Baz.

Have an enjoyable, safe & trouble free trip.
