Gasket Making Lost Art ?

It isn't a lost art,tradesman-ship as a whole is a lost art,it has been for a long time. Pat

Learned from my dad.
Last one I made was a cork one last year.
Can not remember the last paper one I made. I normally order the required gasket with the parts required.
Where can you get gasket paper from these days?

I got a meter of the stuff at repco on clearance for about 2 bucks. He did look at me a bit weird when I asked for gasket paper...

When I was a Series pilot I always had a collection of gasket materials in the shed,still got a reasonable selection.Living in the country its not a matter of poping down to supercrap or repco to get a gasket.With the D2/Defender wasn't such a problem as I made sure I had everything needed before repairs were done.With the D4,its all dealer at the moment.

I learnt how to make gaskets as a kid from my dad , Now if im doing a job and and what ever the part is and it comes with a gasket im happy with that.
I am talking about when you pull something apart to repair or what ever [bigwhistle] As we here own not your run of the mill car making gaskets and parts hard to source in a flash at times.
So i got to thinking who makes their own gaskets these days and is it one of those old time art`s that is slowly disappearing [bigsad]

Have a roll of gasket material, hole punches, straight and curved snips and scissors in the service ute for JIC.

nothing less than I'd expect

Mine have to be gas tight to 400+ psi, not just oil tight, so I reckon they must work ok. :p
