Printer ink has become one of the most expensive commodities on the planet. The manufacturers like it that way, and they'll do whatever they can get away with to try and get you to buy their 'special ink'. When I rang HP for a service call, the operator was able to tell that I was using aftermarket ink. Note that HP reports it's company's health, buy quoting ink sales figures. Yes you should feel ripped off, but there are ways around it. Some have already been mentioned. Search aftermarket printer ink options.

Placed order on the 10th, despatched same day & arrived at our little P.O. on the 14th. (There's a weekend in there.)

I buy Calidad ink cartridge combos for my Brother inkjet from Officeworks for about $40 for the 3 colours and large black all up.

Calidad seem to have something for all brands and model.

Genuine price is eye watering.

I've had one for more than 2 years, and the kids still haven't managed to use all the ink. Refilling is easy, you don't even need to remove the cartridges.

I see Epson even have one out of the box now Epson EcoTank - Printing Freedom For The Whole Family

I had the RIHAC system with my old Canon iP4500 printer, and 'photographic' prints onto a gloss paper were fantastic. Lasted me several years of abuse and printing (mainly) onto cheep paper. Worked out very economical.

My current All In One (not Canon) is not worth putting onto an ink-tank system, as the picture/photo quality is, IMHO, rubbish in comparison to the Canon. That's with OEM ink or aftermarked stuff from evilBay. I use the latter for obviou$ reason$. No blockages or the Ending of Civillisation or bad performance (no worse than original inks...)

Hoping when this one is beyond salvage, that Canon has brought out an ink-tank model to match the 'Other Folk'.[smilebigeye]
