Just be mindful, that travelling West to East, you're crossing time zones and 'losing time'. If you leave Eucla at 0700hrs, it's already 0830hrs at your destinatation.
So a 10 hour drive becomes an 11.5 hour time loss, with sunset earlier. It just makes it hard travelling W-E in short daylight times of the year, which can mean arriving late into your accom, or running out of time to go out for dinner (if that's what you planned that night).
When you're in Mildura, consider the slight detour out to Lake Mungo/Walls of China NP.
It's kind'a boring in one sense, but at the same time a landscape photographers dream!
There is accommodation available there too. No idea about relative prices compared to the larger centres tho.
I see that you're planning on being in Adelaide too(from Pt Augusta) and then across to Mildura.
It's kind'a the long way round, and (IMO) the boring way across(unless you're considering much of the wine country area) .. but I've done Mildura - Pt Augusta many times, and my preferred route is via Peterborough/Burra and down to Renmark.
If you're doing it only during daylight hours(and not late at night as I tend too) all services will be open.
I have nothing against Adelaide, actually very nice capital city!!! .. It's just that when I'm out and about I try to spent my (tourist) $s in the places that really need it more .. or so to speak.
We've been into the Eyre observatory a couple of times via the beach from Twilight Cove. We got in via Cocklebiddy roadhouse but last Jan it was all very badly burned out and spoilt. Tracks ripped up by fire fighting machines etc. plus diversions.
But we found a good spot for a couple of days camp a few kays from the end of the cliffs where the fishing was good.... for me anyway! Then drove along the beach and low cliffs to Eyre then out from there to the hwy.
If you've got the time it's worth doing.
Enjoy the trip, heaps of places to go to time permitting.

Hi All,
The family (wife & 2 dogs) are relocating to Sydney in early May. We want to drive over because I know if I don't do it now I wont do it. We are allowing two weeks.
The plan is to drive from Perth to Albany, have a couple of nights there, drive to Esparance and stay one night then drive to Adelaide for two nights finishing up in Mildura where we will part ways with our travelling companions. From there its to Sydney via Wagga. We will be in a Landrover Defender, companions in a Subaru Forester diesel. Although we will do doing minimal to no driving at night I'd like to fit spotlights to the Defender (because I can and they look cool – shallow yeah). Anyway;
- What is accommodation like across the Nullarbor? We will have dogs but they can sleep in the car,
- How long should it take to drive across during daylight hours,
- Any ideas what phone reception is like (Telstra)
- Any other tips?

Done it heaps of times,make sure both vehicles are mechanically sound and take plenty of music,it's as boring as watching paint dry.Plenty of places to stay along the way,drive till you've had enough and stop.Standing on the edge of the bight is good fun,take one more step and you'll fall off Australia,literally.
