It would be very interesting to see whats floating in Moreton bay today.

The reports we received all day yesterday of various boats, houseboats, moorings with boats still attached , jetties, fridges, wheelybins etc drifting out of the Logan River were amazing.

If you are going out on the waters in your boat today.....beautiful weather for it.....be very aware of floating and half submerged objects.

Thats probably the highest i have seen it at the Waterford bridge for a long time.

We lived for many years just around the corner from it,the old bridge was there when we first lived in that area.

In fact in the '74 floods,a house was washed up against that bridge causing the water to cut the corner and create Tygum lagoon.

The main issue seems to be, in many areas due to development there is way more run off,and the watercourses have been changed by the developers.

The levels of the '74 floods are not really relevant in many areas any more. These days there can be less rain, but more flooding.

Remembering in '74, Brisbane and the Brisbane valley had around 700mm of rain in 36 hours, and the area was already soaked from torrential downpours during the 3 weeks prior.

Well, we know where it will end up. On the beach at Sandgate. After the big one I volunteered along with just about the rest of Brisbane to help clean up. Drove to boondall , got on the bus, thinking we were going up river somewhere, ended up at the beachfront at Brighton. What a mess. Tons and tons of peoples memories, laying on the beach. I found a real estate sign from Ipswich which would have hung on a fence of a house being sold , on the beach. Boats, you say? I wonder if salvage rights apply?.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

How the weather changes. After months of high humidity, peaking with cyclone Debbie, tonight in Maleny it's cool enough to light the fire.

So I broke out a bottle of The Wise One port - seemed like a good idea.
