Went over 150K and Guess what ????????

    Bloody alternator crapped out

So who's the best or should I say cheapest source for a replacement?

Are they rebuildable, or like most Landy specialised parts only available as a new item?

    Does anything else fit?

Looks like Im gunna do some phone searching now everyone should be open after the public holidays

Don't know about QLD but have a look in the recommended suppliers section here or try one of our sponsors.

I was told when mine died that the Magnetti Marelli were not rebuildable so I bought a new one.

Hi Glen, when my alternator went on my 97 disco, it was far cheaper to buy a bigger non genuine alternator then to replace the original.

It also makes it cheaper down the road as most other alternators can be overhauled.

    Cheers

    Hi Tim,

So what did you get and how hard was it to fit up?

Any other details would be appreciated.

I'm about to do the ring around

Hi Glen, unfortunately I can’t help with any detail.

When the disco alternator went, I called into one of my customers, an auto electrician and just left it with him.

He seemed to know what he was doing as he had been an auto elec in Britain before he came out here.

I would ring him but he was offered a good price for his business, so he sold up and I don’t have a contact number for him.

One thing though, there was a slight problem after the alt was fitted but it only related to getting the pulley lined up properly. once that was sorted, all was well.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

    Cheers
