:roll: just a thought that since you live in lovely sunny Qld check the tubes around the back of the fridge for mud wasp nests,has been known that they build in the vents/tubes on the back of the fridge heat exchanger,had similar probs in tube above the pilot gas flame with a spiral thingy inside,can be removed for cleaning and removal of offending nests

After tipping it upside down etc - it needs to sit for at least 24 hours before switching on - this gets the oil and gas back where it is supposed to be.

didn't think i needed to wait for an absorbtion fridge

good thing i have two engle one for the fender and one for the van

will still keep playing with it, i aint done yet

nope, as Ron suggested, only on a vapour compression (compressor) type system. This is only for when someone may have tipped it up in such a way that the oil drains from the sump of the compressor.

There is a procedure for mixing the liquids in an absorbtion frig, at least for Electroluxes.
This involved tipping on to the the side (can't remember which one !) then the lid, then the other side, each time pausing for when the gurgling stops, then back into a top corner, then shake the $h!t out of it (quite viloently) for a minute, then slowly roll back onto its feet. Wait for the gurgling to stop, then fire it up.

If it ever had a leak, you'd know about it, as one of the constituents is ammonia.

Our 3 way is an Electrolux out of an old Cub Drifter about 30yrs old, we had it serviced a while ago as we were thinking of selling it and upgrading to a newer model, the sevice guy told us not to as the older ones with the exposed pipes are the best and more efficiant than the newer ones.

So we kept it and just every now and then turn it upside down to refresh it and it works bloody brilliant all the time now.
