Don't really blame you. I'm struggling to find the time to put it together myself. Just that all the bits, including a good auto and all the gaskets and timing chains and everything are sitting there.... thing is, I had it all together to do a good thing to the car, and my RRC decided to roll backwards down the driveway and hit the Ford up the RRS. SWMBO didn't want to have to wait, and I blame her not at all, so now I have t find time to put all this stuff, about $1500, into a $400 car.
Life. Who'd have it..... lol.
Got a bootlid and rear light as well.....
Just to add my 2c, aim for a BF with the 6 speed auto.
All the common problems have been listed earlier, but also worth mentioning a few of the earlier ones (BA) seem to be rusting. Seen a few with rusting rad supports, a friend has a BA wagon with rust in the top of the tailgate, also around bonnet and boot hinges.
Also go the Mighty EL, still have mine, first car
the ba/bf with the 6speed auto if a 5-6k fix I am told
ba/bf with 4speed auto is a 2k fix
bf are a better vehicle when it comes to rust resistance thats for sure.
but the ba has heaps of panel plugs so you can rust proof them if you get a good one...
Must say my EF/EL hybrid was a fantastic 4 door sedan for the time (and my then income).
Having said that, it was essentially modified to full track spec complete with full weld in CAMS approved roll cage, fully adjustable suspension etc etc....
By then it really shouldn't have seen the road but awesome fun [emoji41]
