Do it yourself, it's not hard, just make sure you get the sticky side down.

i'll give 1 room a try.

Start in the Bathroom.

I'm on your side Eevo, I HATE painting more than anything else - it's one job I'll happily pay to have done, easy or not. If you're having a go and can't cut in the edges, tape gives a much cleaner finish and there is a huge difference between a good professional job and a weekend warrior who can't get the edges right or use a roller properly - I've seen some terrible painting when looking at houses for sale - not much better than Mr Beans attempt.

If you do one room you'll soon know if you're up for doing the whole house.

Having just painted the daughters house with much help from all and sundry, I can vouch that not many people can actually paint. Sanding is easy, a big square hand one is good,, you only need to scuff it. Filling holes or marks/scratches use a fine filler and a flexible spatula. Make sure it's dry before trying to paint,, you'd be surprised at how many don't [bighmmm]
Start by using sugar soap to wash everything first, done easily with a square type squeegee floor mop, then paint the ceiling, both coats, then do all your cutting,, as Gav said, "tape" is your friend, and these days there are also various tools for doing corners etc. If taping, make sure what you've already painted is dry before you stick it on. Don't use cheap short handle paint brushes, and for cutting, you'll probably find the angled brushes are better,, I personally don't use square ended at all. Rollers,, same, good quality beats cheap every time, wet them with water first before you place it in paint, and rinse it off properly,, the garden hose is good for this, and spinning it dry.
If your doors are flat, a small roller is handy and quick,, if they are feature type doors then you may have to just use a brush. Trimmings, use small brushes and TAKE YOUR TIME,,, nothing looks worse than edges that overlap.
If your not replacing any flooring,, remember to cover it all up with sheets, and get yourself plenty of rags (wet) for those "oops" moments. You can cover rollers and brushes with glad wrap when wet and not using them to keep them fresh,,, you know, lunch breaks etc, which tend to be longer when your doing it yourself. Don't drag brushes up the side of the pot,, tap them on the inside of the pot to get rid of excessive paint. Don't scrimp on paint, stand back, look at where you've been and put more on if it looks thin.

Here's another little tip: If you have a surface that is porous it will suck the moisture out of the paint too quickly, which will cause the paint to crack once it is fully hardened. For such arias you should lightly dilute some PVA glue or BondCrete, and seal the surface before painting.
