    Broadway Multi-Storey Prang Update.

    Evenin All...

Quick Update for all of you that are following the damage in teh carpark stiry
Went to meet the chap in charge of Broadway tonight and he seemed a decent bloke.

Got the tape measure out and the D90 came in at a healthy 199cm's (I measured it later and it was 197cm's) so that clears the subject of getting into the place (broadway has a 200cm bar).

Anywho's he has asked me to collect three quotes and get back to them and they go from there, good enough as admitted liability there and then

Also....it looks like I might have save all you guys in Sydney who's wives go to Broadway a few shekels as they are now planning on lowering the bar to 190cm to avoid this in the future....happy days eh!!

Where do you think I should collect the quotes from...any ideas?

Mine were the LR place in Waterloo , Prestige Car repair on Wattle Street...and god knows who else.

Once again though...cheers for all your replies and support in this matter and dont worry about thanking me enough for stopping you now from going to Broadway shopping centre in the near future...

Its all in a days work

    Cheers

Interesting....I had a similar run-in with Westfield at Eastgardens, although there was no damage involved.

After much discussion and measuring they finally removed the offending barrier. You have to wonder as it was also a rooftop car park 8O

    Broadway

Now that liability's been settled,an interesting observation about the Broadway carpark. My Disco comes in at 197 also - (previous owner lifted it and shod it with 31 x 10.5 R15) and I've taken a lot of notice when entering and exiting carparks. With the exception of any missed bits on level portions of Broadway that I can't see, I can get my Disco in and out of every level, inlcuding the lowest level between the big carpark and under the main shopping centre.

That's not to mean that one zooms around willy nilly - When I read about Expat's story, I made sure I watched what was going on the next time I visited Broadway. And I made an interesting observation.

When you go up or down a ramp, there is some suspension bounce on every vehicle. Add the normal movement of the rear end ( same as the rear end of a bus swinging out opposite to a turn, but up and down) and I can see where one might have probs. Think of it as 4WD version of the problem with lowered cars and speed humps.

I'm not suggesting that this is how Expat came to grief - but I'm sure he'll agree with me on these two statements:

It is better not to prang in the first place -

    Just because there's a sign saying limit 2m doesn't mean S#*t.

I'd look for a panel beater than can work aluminium. When I get home from work, I'll see who is listed in the Range Rover Club magazine. A couple of advertisers drives Rangies and they claim experience with working on LR products.

A&J Corben at Hurstville used to do some of Arthur Garthon's work.
Coincidentally they repainted my 92 Rangie before I bought it on an insurance job after a battery exploded near it. I must say my paint is very beautiful.

The dealer at Waterloo will be able to give you a list of LR Authorised Repairers that are close to you - this might be better in case any later issues arise with your car that LR might baulk at for some reason.

Cheers Guys for all the replies , if you can get those numbers to me PhillipA that would be great as well

I Will also give LR a call sometime today and get the approved list (if there is one!)

As for the way the damage occured Im clueless on this one , I wasnt in the motor at the time SWMBO was and the details are a tad sketchy.

She says she was at the top of the car park and the incident happend on the first or second down ramp from the top.

The way the damage has been inflicted though leads me to believe its from a turning and not a 'whole bar' otherwise the whole of the back would have been looking like a butchers dustbin

They couldnt complain though as when they inspected and measured the D90 yesterday evening I was actually parked up in their car park

Wonder if I will get a nice service motor

They've been doing LRs for as long as I care to remember. They do all of LR Aust's work.
They do quite a few mods also - they built the red Discovery ute with the camper that was at the 2004 LR Expo.
