    Every trip's an adventure.

Last Thursday afternoon The Minister for Pointless Purchases spotted a camper trailer, for sale on Facebook, and decided we desparately needed it. It was in Toukley, I found one an hour from home, a year newer, more gear, same price on ebay. No, the one a thousand miles from home is the only one suitable. Departure was set for sparrows on Friday.
As some of you good people may have observed, impetuous personalities often belong to impatient folk. TMFPP was anticipating a flying trip, straight down, straight back and seemed thrilled when I told her that the Disco should make each leg without any refuelling requirements.
I, on the other hand, like to plan and execute to accomplish the maximum gain for the most economical input. There were a few things that could be achieved on a trip to Sydney.
The first on my list was to check out a sheepskin outlet near Stanthorpe, where I might be able to purloin some seat covers. We arrived to find the shop was not open, but a phone number to call if one required service. TMFPP, fancying a pair of uggies, called and was told "8 minutes".
I thought hmmm, I'll put those eight minutes to use, I'll load half a dozen CDs into the stacker. I was under the misguided impression that the stacker was under the passenger seat. The trim below the squab prevents access and I then thought as the trim needs a screwdriver to remove it, it was unlikely that the stacker cassette was there. I then remembered a clip off cover on the base of the driver's seat. That only exposed the back of the unit. I slid the seat forward and, BINGO, found a slot that accepted a CD. Long story short, it didn't work, that's the DVD player. Logic suggested to me that the CDs must be on the other side.
A grope around and half a look with one eye revealed only what appeared to be the release lever for the cassette. I figured if I could release the cassette it would become obvious, how to remove and load same. Pushing, pulling, lifting, sliding, would not unleash that stubborn part. I then slid the seat forward. For anyone unfamiliar with Disco 2s, the seat moves so far that it ends up under the dash, literally. Looking from behind the seat, I remembered that was just a computer. Ok, push the seat back and abandon the whole idea of listening to CDs. The seat won't move!
TMFPP is not impressed, mumbling stuff like 'shoud've used the Pajero ' and 'don't think I'm going to Sydney on the back seat ', I think there were some other phrases that cannot be repeated on a family friendly forum!
More groping, contortionists' displays and falling off of glasses, I deduced that what I had mistaken for a release lever was in fact the relay for the electric seat movements.
Rolling the seat so far forward had dislodged the loosened relay. It now rested, unreachable, behind the trim.
This wouldn't have been a major problem if Land Rover had thought to put a screwdriver in the tool kit.
I explained to TMFPP that the only way forward was for her to get in the back seat for 500 metres to the service station down the road, where I could buy a philips screwdriver.
That 500 metres morphed into 50 km, three servos and two produce stores! That equates to about three quarters of an hour of 'mutter, mutter, mutter.', 'sorry, what was that?', 'NOTHING'.
I still haven't located the cd stacker, Pedro? Please.
I also had coffee with Cuppabillytea, thanks mate, my shout next time, which wasn't appreciated by TMFPP until after the event. Great to meet you Billy, as you said, we'll have to do it again with a bit of mischief involved.
There was a bit of a kerfuffle with missed texts and retirees working on Friday nights, but as we were approaching Beresford, TMFPP mentioned that SHE was disappointed that Jim hadn't answered my text. Immediately I phoned Jim and told him we were 'round the corner.
I couldn't drag her away, she's very fond of Jim and D. Cheers mate, good to see you again. Thanks for the coffee.

Get with the times my good man . Cd s are past tense . Even my feeble brain can get enough synapses firing to operate a iPod with much more music stored than I would possibly be able to transport. Als the needle tends to skip if I try and play my record when the Disco isn't annoying me !

Nan's Territory does not have the aux input but she found a little black box that she plugs into her iphone and then tunes one of the FM stations into it.
